The exhibition will show some of the masterpieces of the Tuscan painter and his pupils, such as the famous panel with Salvator Mundi, (former collection of the Marquis De Ganay) and the Christ Blessing holding a globe with his left hand, symbol of his universal power. We can also admire the table with Christ child del Salaì and three precious graphic archives: the Corazza Code from the National Library of Naples, the Fridericiano Code, kept in the Humanistic Area Library of the Federico II University, and the text "Naples ancient and modern", written by Abbot Domenico Romanelli.

From the 31 March will also be exposed the Lucana table which represents his self-portrait.

The Salvator Mundi

Salvator Mundi ex de Ganay exhibited at the Diocesan Museum comes from a Swiss collection and is kept in a vault. After a small restoration, it will be exhibited in the Naples exhibition and it is the first time that it will be present in Italy, excluding a small living just in Vinci years ago. Despite many previous perplexities, is attributed to Leonardo for the characteristics it presents. One of the most important details would be the glass sphere that Christ is holding, typical of the artist's painting. the doubts of art historians come from the fact that there would be at least 20 Salvator Mundi, but obviously not all of them can be linked to Leonardo.

The exbit was conceived by Prof. Carlo Pedretti, Director of the Armand Hammer Center for Leonardo Studies at the University of California with the scientific care of Nicola Barbatelli and the collaboration of the Archdiocese of Naples and the Diocesan Museum, with the contribution of the Campania Region, of the Donnaregina Foundation for contemporary arts / Mother Naples, of Scabec.
