Metronapoli extends the closing time of the underground line 1 and the Funiculars until 2 am on weekends
The city of Napoli today has taken a first step towards approaching the lifestyle of many other Italian and European cities.
Il City of NaplesIn partnership with Metronapoli, decided that the 1 line of the Metro (Piscinola - Garibaldi) and the Funicular they will prolong their travels up to 2 at night on weekends (every Friday and Saturday).
The new timetable will come into force from tomorrow 9 may and will last until 31 October 2014, on an experimental basis.
These are the opening methods:
Line 1
- last departure from Garibaldi at 1.32 and from Piscinola at 00.48
Funicular
- last run at 2.00 in the morning
The extension of Metronapoli metro and funicular times will be suspended only for the month of August.
The second exits of the Rione Alto, Montedonzelli and Toledo (Montecalvario) stations will be closed to the public.
The Mayor Luigi De Magistris he commented with these words the new provision:
“We have been able to achieve a result that has been coveted for many years and we did it in a time of economic crisis and this doubles our satisfaction. The extension of the timetables makes Naples more and more a tourist and international city, as well as representing a precious tool to combat atmospheric pollution. Focusing on public transport means fueling eco-sustainable policies "
