The trains of line 1 will not run on November 30 and December 1, due to service works that will lead to the opening of the new Piscinola - Garibaldi section
In view of the opening of the Piazza Garibaldi subway station, scheduled for the 2 December 2013 and that will complete the single section Piscinola - Garibaldi, Metronapoli informs that the 1 train service will be suspended for two days.
On 30 November and 1 December 2013, the service on the Piscinola - Dante section will therefore be suspended to allow technical work on the line, in particular cabling and the unification of technologies for the new section. The shuttles between Dante and University will not circulate either.
If on the one hand the news may seem negative due to the inconvenience that will be created for those who take line 1 of the Naples metro (even if the suspension days are Saturday and Sunday), but also for the occasional ones, on the other hand it is this is good news, because finally it will be possible to travel from Piscinola to Garibaldi on a single route, which will also lead to the elimination of the Dante - University shuttle.
The subway trains will be replaced by these bus lines:
- Line 564 (C62 + 2M) frequency 15 '- Piscinola-Chiaiano-Dante
- Scampia-Miano-Dante (67 ') C15 Line
- Piscinola-Miano-Dante 178 Line
- R4 Line City Hall area (10 '/ 15')
- Line R1 Vomero-Municipio (12 '/ 15')
Regarding the resumption of service, from Monday 2 December will re-open the 1 line from Piscinola to Dante, while until December 29 the shuttle service between Dante and University will be suspended, with the closure of the Toledo and University stations to users. The Toledo station remains open to the public from 10.00 hours at 19.00 only for tourist visits.
Furthermore from 2 December 2013, pre-operation will start on the Dante - Garibaldi section, a phase necessary for the break-in of the network, circulating convoys without people on board and training the machine personnel and station operators, as required by current regulations.
Only starting from 30 December 2013 will it be possible to travel on the single double track section from Piscinola to Garibaldi.
Other good news: By the end of January 2014 the train frequency will change to 7 minutes.
