Procida is the Italian Capital of Culture 2022: the island has won

Procida won among all the finalists and will be the Italian Capital of Culture in 2022!

Procida is the Italian Capital of Culture for 2022 and this was officially announced by Dario Franceschini, the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.

This is exciting news, eagerly awaited and sure to help not only the island, but also neighboring areas like Pozzuoli and the Phlegraean Fields, recover from this long-standing crisis. It will also be a fantastic opportunity to further showcase beautiful locations like the famous beach featured in the film "Il Postino ," Il Pozzovecchio, the Aragonese Castle , Palazzo D'Avalos, and many other must-sees.

Procida will receive €1 million for the occasion. Our island was one of the 10 finalists, beating out Cerveteri, Ancona, Bari, L'Aquila, Pieve di Soligo (Treviso), Taranto, Trapani, Verbania, and Volterra.

The victory was decided by a jury led by Professor Stefano Baia Curioni, President, and the mayor of Procida , Raimondo Ambrosino, who said he was naturally delighted because the news represents " an enormous joy , and Procida is a metaphor for so many communities that have rediscovered enthusiasm and pride for their territories. We are honored by this extraordinary opportunity for a small island."
