Five operas and ballets scheduled for the summer season of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples

If you think that with the arrival of the summer season and the warm evenings the theater goes on vacation, you are wrong. The Teatro San Carlo, for the second consecutive year, will not close for holidays but, on the contrary, will enrich its artistic program with a review of five operas and ballets, Entitled San Carlo Opera Festival.

Also for the second edition of the San Carlo Opera Festival, the Massimo Partenopeo will ensure that all spectators can access the scheduled shows, offering lower prices than in the classic season, starting from just over 20 euros.

In short, until the beginning of the autumn season, the Teatro San Carlo will accompany all those who want, even in summer, to continue to feed on theater, attending five of the most famous pièce in the world.

San Carlo Opera Festival Program

Tosca

The famous opera in three acts with music by Giacomo Puccini on a libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi it was performed for the first time in 1887 at the Théatre de la Porte-Saint-Martin in Paris, played by Sarah Bernhardt as the protagonist. There Tosca it is considered Puccini's most dramatic work, thanks to the twists that keep the viewer in constant tension. The plot, of a historical and amorous nature, takes place in 1800 in Rome following the revolutionary events in France and the fall of the first Roman Republic.

La Bohème

Opera in four paintings by Giacomo Puccini on a libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica, performed for the first time at the Teatro Regio in Turin in 1896. In the Paris of 1830 the story centers on the gay and carefree existence of a group of young bohemian artists in a series of episodes.

Amadeus

Luke Barbary will play Salieri, in the adaptation in the concert version by John Axelrod, of the homonymous play by Peter Shaffer dedicated to the rivalry between composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart e Antonio Salieri. Di Amadeus ne fu fatto anche un film nel 1984, diretto dal regista Miloš Forman.

Amadeus Teatro San Carlo

Giselle

At the Teatro San Carlo you can watch the symbol of the classic ballet par excellence, the most famous in the world, written and conceived in 1841 by the French novelist Théophile Gautier, set to music by Adolphe-Charles Adam and choreographed by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot. The ballet was staged at the Opéra National de Paris in 1841, interpreted by the ballerina Carlotta Grisi, who inspired Gautier in the composition of the Giselle, and by Lucien Petipa in the role of Albrecht.

At the San Carlo, in the role of Giselle, there will be the famous dancer Svetlana Zakharova.

Don Pasquale

Opera buffa in three acts of Gaetano Donizetti, on a libretto by Donizetti himself and Giovanni Ruffini, based on the playful drama by Angelo Anelli Ser Marcantonio, set to music by Stefano Pavesi in 1810. It was staged in the Salle Ventadour of the Théâtre-Italien in Paris in 1843. It was inspired by the masks of the comedy of art, as per the tradition of the comic opera.
