From December 29 2016 4 to January 2017 back to Teatro San Carlo of Naples the ballet The Nutcracker, one of the most moving Christmas stories.

The work was composed by Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij at the end of the nineteenth century, on the indications of the libretto by Marius Petipa. The fairy tale told in this classic ballet takes place during Christmas Eve since it respects the story it Nutcracker and the king of mice by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann from which it draws inspiration.

The protagonist is the little Clara, who received as a Christmas gift one nutcracker shaped like a soldier. During the night the little girl dreams that everything around her comes to life and begins to grow, that is the room, the Christmas tree, the toys, while a myriad of mice try to steal the nutcracker, commanded by the King of the Mice.

The nutcracker comes alive and kills the king of mice and magically transforms itself, becoming a prince. Clara follows him, entering a snow-covered forest, where they perform a beautiful Waltz of snowflakes.

A dream atmosphere thanks to the Orchestra, the Corps de Ballet and the Chorus of Voices of the Teatro di San Carlo.
