The most evocative places of Naples will be the scenery of shows, entertainment and special rituals for the night of San Giovanni!
Tuesday 23 June 2015 il historical center of Naples it will be the location of "A Midsummer Night's Dream of a Midsummer Night", the traveling event full of shows and entertainment between the sacred and the profane.
The initiative, curated by Annalisa Palmieri, Dario Amato, Stefania Russo and the Municipality of Naples, is part of the review Ghosts in Naples and immerse visitors in a rich music program, shows, rituals, dances and installations ready to recall the summer solstice and what traditionally happened during the night of St. John.
The path
We will start at the Sant'Antoniello complex in Port'Alba with a dance show dedicated to the union between sun and moon and with a special installation by Federica Rispoli. The fascinating journey will continue in via Broggia in the company of Virgil Magician, with dance performances, body painting and tastings of excellent wines.
We will then move on to Piazza Dante and from Piazza Bellini with theatrical performances dedicated to the history of the witch of Port'Alba, all embellished with many traditional dances and music.
Last but not least, the itinerary will end in via Constantinople with the presentation of the album "Do not be afraid" by Carlo Contocalakis, tastings of Nocillo and wine, shows to exorcise the evil eye, reading the tarot and the melting of the lead. Ancient rituals, these, typical of the night of the feast of San Giovanni.
