Free beaches in Naples for the Summer: here's where to swim for free
Naples offers many opportunities for swimming during the summer in beautiful places on its coast. In addition to the best paid beaches, there are also several in the city free beaches where you can bathe and sunbathe and some of them are too equipped with bathrooms and showers.
Surely the most beautiful coastline is the one that goes from Mergellina to Posillipo, a wonderful coast where you can also relax in coves and beaches accessible only by boat, but there are beautiful beaches also on the coast of Bacoli.
Beach at the Rotonda Diaz
Also known as Lido Mappatella, so named in a period when it was considered more dirty, today is a beach equipped by the City of Naples. It is located right at the Rotonda Diaz and from the 2016 its sea is suitable for bathing. It is definitely one of the favorite destinations of the Neapolitans in the summer, so it is almost always very crowded.
Where: Rotonda Diaz, Lungomare Caracciolo
Largo Nazario Sauro
This beach is very close to the Castel dell'Ovo, at the Fontana dell'Immacolatella, but consists only of rocks, so we suggest to provide you with shoes to walk more comfortably on this hard material. The water is suitable for bathing, but not far from Piazza Nazario Sauro, there is a bathing prohibition.
Where: Largo Nazario Sauro, between via Partenope and via Nazario Sauro
Largo Sermoneta
At the end of via Posillipo, where starts via Mergellina, there is the free beach which is located at Largo Sermoneta. It is not very convenient because in the vicinity there are a boat and many rocks.
Where: Largo Sermoneta, between via Posillipo and via Mergellina

It takes its name from the homonymous column between via Caracciolo and via Partenope, dedicated to the fallen of the sea. There is both sand and rocks, as for the beach at the Rotonda Diaz, it is very busy and crowded.

Riva Fiorita
The beach of Riva Fiorita can be reached either by boat or on foot, but along a long stretch from Via Ferdinando Russo downhill. It is located at the foot of the ancient tower of Villa Volpicelli, famous for A Place in the Sun, and is a must for Neapolitan bathers.
Where: access by sea or from the Via Ferdinando Russo descent
gaiola
You access the Gaiola beach along the route of the Discesa Gaiola, but once you arrive you will remain breathless. You can swim both on the side that leads to the Vesuvius and accessing thearea that overlooks the famous Villa in the middle of the sea, but in this case we must deliver a document of recognition because it is a marine protected area.
Access is by reservation and must be usedappropriate app.

The municipal beach of Bacoli was equipped with showers and toilets. Unfortunately, you can only sunbathe there because there is still a ban on bathing due to the lack of water reclamation.
