Al Campania Single Consortium was presented the Tap & Go experimentation, the new ticket payment method for rail transport in Campania with the aim, in the future, of replacing the tickets we already know and have always used. However, we point out that paper tickets continue to exist.

This new mode presents a novelty compared to the purchase through the app which is already active for the purchase of travel tickets. Let's see what it is.

How to use the system with credit and debit cards

With the Tap & Go system you can go through the turnstiles even without physically stamping the ticket, but placing the credit card or debit card on the reader (TAP IN). The same operation will have to be done even when exiting the station (TAP OUT), to close the move. In this way, the software can automatically choose the most convenient ticket for that route among the many tickets offered by the Consorzio Unico.

We remind you that you have to use always the same card, inbound and outbound, otherwise the system will detect two different trips.

Which cards are valid

You can use any type of card, even those scanned on devices enabled for NFC payment. The POS validators are enabled for the payment cards of the circuits American Express, MasterCard, Maestro and Visa.

In essence, it is the contactless system by credit card and the project is in collaboration with Mastercard.

Where the experimentation starts

The system is active on the Metro Line 1, in the stations Central and Chiaia Funiculars of ANM and on EAV lines Naples - Sorrento and Piscinola - Aversa.

Within the next 18 months it will be possible to use it on all other routes managed by Eav, including the Cumana, on the other ANM Funiculars and on all buses of the Single Consortium Campania.

Therefore, in each station you will find the Pos suitable for this type of payment.

An improvement towards the future

This system will make Naples and Campania closer to the European capitals, where these payment methods are often already used. The paper ticket will not be totally supplanted, but the aim is to ensure that it is used less and less.

Mastercard's goal is to cut the production of paper tickets to 15% within the first year.
