The State Mint pays tribute to the great artist Eduardo De Filippo and his theater with a special 5 euro coin!
La State Mint together with the State Printing Institute pays homage to a great Neapolitan artist, director and playwright, that is Eduardo De Filippo e to the art of his theater, with the realization of a 5 euro coin.
In fact, after the coin dedicated to great Totò, and the one dedicated to Neapolitan pizza and Pulcinella recently issued, here comes the one dedicated to Eduardo De Filippo, considered one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century.
The coin dedicated to Eduardo De Filippo
The special 5 euro coin was issued on Monday 11 May 2020 by Ministry of Economy and Finance. Designed by Maria Carmela Colaneri, currently there are around 7 thousand copies and are already available.
On the first side of the coin there is depicted the portrait of Eduardo De Filippo and a curtain on his left, while on the other side of the coin the sacred place for the great actor is depicted: a theater stage with a chair and a small table.
Other characterizing elements are a cup, a coffee maker, a lucky horn and a star symbol of the crib, and engraved the writing Eduardo De Filippo and Il teatro è vita.
In short, a real celebration to Eduardo De Filippo, a great artist, architect of great masterpieces and who has dedicated his whole life to the theater.
