In addition to the good news regarding the electric buses, which within two years will replace the entire fleet of buses, currently made up of hybrid or fuel vehicles, are getting good news also in relation to new metro line 1 trains in Naples.
In fact, the testing of the new means proceeds with excellent results and further tests were carried out the day before and yesterday, in the evening, with the early closure of the entire section of line 1, but everything went well.
Checks on new trains
Mayor Manfredi therefore said he was very satisfied because we are going in the right direction to guarantee Naples one new mobility that goes more and more towards the green andeco friendly.
Thanks to these tests, the transport system will always be more efficient and frequencies, therefore the waiting times will be significantly reduced.
They will also be safer because even i braking test have been successful, especially at full load and in extreme conditions. The conditions are defined as extreme when the trains are made to travel 5000 km, at maximum speed and with sudden braking.
Reduced waiting times: maximum 7 minutes
The new trains, when they are all in circulation, will ensure that the waits will be 7 minutes and they will also be able to transport more people improving the transport capacity of the medium itself.
Definitely a great improvement that will make life easier for citizens and tourists.
The characteristics of the trains
The new trains were purchased by the Spanish company CAF and to date we have 8. In total 20 will arrive.
Here are what they are:
- very large because they can hold up to 1200 passengers
- reliable
- with European frequency, therefore waiting times will be significantly reduced up to 7 minutes
- with plant of conditioning
- systems for noise reduction
- they can carry four wheelchairs for the disabled.
Metro line 6 will open shortly
Mayor Manfredi also stated that within the end of the year Line 6 will be opened and other subway stations will also be opened in the city.
There are also new electric buses
As mentioned, in two years we will have only electric buses in Naples which in total they will be 253, thanks to the plan financed by the PNRR for 180 million euro.
They will have the following characteristics:
- length of 12 meters;
- air conditioning system;
- lowered floor to allow access for the disabled;
- video surveillance cameras.
