From 31 December 2013 will open the Garibaldi station of the 1 line of the Naples metro. From Piscinola to Garibaldi in 33 minutes
It will open tomorrow, 31 December 2013, new metro station 1 line of Garibaldi, inaugurated last December 2. This is the seventeenth station of line 1 of the Naples metro, built by the architect Dominique Perrault, which also took care of the restyling of the square, where the railway is also located. Inside there are works of art by Michelangelo Pistoletto, while the exterior of the new “art station” is characterized by glass roofs and steel trees.
The double-track races from Piscinola to Garibaldi (and vice versa) may be carried out starting from 15: tomorrow's 00 and the trains will circulate 8 every minute. The travel time of the Piscinola - Garibaldi section will be only 33 minutes. Finally, it will be possible to travel from the areas of northern Naples and the hilly area of the city to the station, without having to get off at the Museo stop to change lines. With a single ride you can reach the historic center and the railway station (from where trains and the Circumvesuviana depart). Information tools for passengers have also improved: maps, signs, totems and videos will disseminate public transport timetables and services.
Anna Donati, referent for the Sustainable Mobility of the Mayor Luigi De Magistris, states:
“The opening of the Garibaldi station with the new passenger service of the Metro Line 1 is an important result desired with determination by the Municipality of Naples, which will quickly connect the central station with many districts of the city. All communication to users has also been strengthened and together with the return of buses to the road, we are certain that 2014 starts with the relaunch of public transport ".
And even more pleasant news concerns public transport during the New Year's night. It will be possible to travel from Piscinola to Garibaldi and vice versa starting tomorrow, and use the service also at night, based on the extraordinary opening hours for subways and funiculars scheduled for the New Year's Eve party in Piazza del Plebiscito and on the Lungomare.
