The most famous classic ballet on stage at the Teatro San Carlo for the Christmas holidays

As per tradition, back to the Teatro San Carlo the "Christmas Ballet" par excellence, to be held during the Christmas holidays, from the 29 December 2013 to the 5 January 2014.

The Nutcracker is a ballet composed by Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij between 1891 and 1892, on the indications of the libretto by Marius Petipa. Its first performance was held at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg in 1892, directed by the composer Riccardo Drigo and choreographed by the Russian dancer Lev Ivanov. Since then the work has been revisited and resumed several times, also adapted to cinema and cartoons, always with a faithful respect to Tchaikovsky's libretto.

The plot of The Schiaccianoci it is inspired by the story Nutcracker and the king of mice by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann of 1816. The story takes place on the eve of Christmas day and tells of the dreams of the little Clara, to whom a nutcracker in the shape of a toy soldier is given for Christmas. During the night the little girl imagines that everything around her comes to life, and begins to enter a fantastic world, in the company of the Confetto Fairy and the King of Mice who want to steal her nutcracker, who comes to life with her becoming a Prince. Between wonderful dances and the enchanting atmosphere of the Kingdom of Sweets.

Al Teatro San Carlo the choreography of the Lo Nutcracker will be made by Alessandra Panzavolta, director of the ballet company of the Massimo Partenopeo, and to tread the stage will be the étoile Giuseppe Picone and Marjia Kicevska, the ballet company and the students of the Ballet School of the San Carlo Theater.

Even the Teatro Bellini the show will be on stage The Nutcracker, in the original version of 1892, by the Russian Ballet La Classique. (Info on dates and prices)
